Arrest Made For Theft of Welding Leads - Tuesday, October 07, 2008
Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Monday, October 6, 2008, Detectives arrested Willie Hawkins 45 of 125 Grant Loop Road in Paincourtville in connection with the theft of copper.
The investigation was initiated on October 2nd when a Paincourtville farmer reported approximately four hundred feet welding leads missing from his workshop.
Upon checking area scrap yards, investigators discovered that Hawkins sold welding leads at a St. Mary Parish yard on the day the items were reported stolen.
Hawkins was subsequently arrested for one count of Simple Burglary and is presently being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center in Napoleonville. Bond was set at $40,000.
