Residence Burglary / Auto Theft 5200 Block of Hwy 308 in Napoleonville. Suspect Arrested in Baton Rouge. - Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Friday, January 16, 2009, at approximately 9:35AM, Deputies were called to a residence in the 5200 block of Hwy 308 in reference to a burglary.
Upon arrival, the homeowners informed deputies that someone had forcefully entered their residence. The homeowners reported several items missing including a green 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was parked in the driveway. The homeowners indicated that they left the residence at approximately 7:30AM.
Detectives were notified and responded to conduct a crime scene investigation. The vehicle was entered into National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and surrounding agencies were alerted.
At approximately 11:00PM, APSO Detectives were notified that the stolen truck was recovered by the Baton Rouge Police Department in Baton Rouge. The driver, Timothy Stewart 24 yoa, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
On Saturday morning, Detectives traveled to Baton Rouge to interview Stewart at the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Parish Prison. Stewart indicated that he rented the vehicle from another party a couple of hours before being stopped by Police. Stewart denied involvement in the burglary and the initial theft of the truck.
