Pierre Part Mother and Boyfriend Arrested for Child Desertion - Tuesday, April 7, 2009
On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at approximately 10:30PM, Detective Melissa Reedy was called to the Livingston Apartment Complex on Banker's Drive in Pierre Part concerning suspicious activity.

Upon arrival Detective Reedy learned that residents observed two men climbing out of the apartment through an open window. Detective Reedy also learned that two young children may be inside, unattended.

Upon entering through the open window Detective Reedy discovered  the two children, ages 2 and 3, asleep in one of the bedrooms. No one else was present inside the apartment.

The childrens' mother Lakel Ramo 23yoa and her boyfriend, Jeremy Compton 21yoa, were subsequently located at a lounge in Morgan City where the mother is employed as an exotic dancer. Both subjects were detained and were later transported to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Detention Center where they were book with 2 counts of Child Desertion. Compton admitted during questioning that he was supposed to be watching the children at the time that they were discovered unattended. The children were later placed in the custody of their biological father.

This matter remains under investigation. The Office of Child Services has been notified.
