Recent Labadieville Robberies - Thursday, January 7, 2010

Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that a $1,000 cash reward is being offered to anyone providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for two recent armed robberies in the Labadieville area.

The first incident occurred in the 100 block of Ash Street in Labadieville on Tuesday, December 29, 2009.

The male victim reported that at approximately 9:27PM, he was bringing his garbage to the road when he was accosted by five black males wearing dark clothing and brandishing handguns. The suspects forced the man back into his residence and held him at gunpoint while they ransacked the interior. Shortly thereafter the suspects fled in an unknown direction. The victim reported that a large sheet of one dollar bills was taken during the incident. The sheet of bills was acquired several years ago from the US Mint.

Then second incident occurred near the intersection of Convent Street and Cypress Street in Labadieville on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.

The two teenage male victims reported that at approximately 8:50PM, they were walking on Covent Street near St. Philomena Church when they were approached by three black male subjects wearing dark clothing and hooded jackets. Two of the suspects produced handguns and ordered the victims to give them money. The boys complied and surrendered a small amount of currency and a cell phone. The three suspects then fled toward the church.
