Assumption Parish Deputy injured while responding to Domestic Complaint - Monday, March 1, 2010
An Assumption Parish Sheriff's Deputy was injured in the line of duty. On Sunday, February 28th, 2010, the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call involving a domestic disturbance in the Bertrandville community. Upon the Deputies' arrival, they made contact with the offender, Mr. Wendell Johnson, a.k.a. "Snipe”. Mr. Johnson was in violation of an active protective order filed in February of 2009. Mr. Johnson was ordered by an Assumption Parish Sheriff's Deputy to surrender to an arrest for the violations. Mr. Johnson became combative during the arrest procedures and struck an APSO deputy in the face. The deputy suffered injuries due to the battery that included a fractured jaw. Wendell Johnson, B/M, age 49 is wanted for several felony and misdemeanor warrants including battery of a police officer.
