Recent Thefts and Burglary - Friday, March 12, 2010

On Friday, March 5, 2010, a residence at 220 Bayou Drive, Pierre Part was burglarized between the hours of 9am and 4pm. No one was home at the time but a caller later reported that at around 11:30 am that day a dark blue or black Chevrolet truck was seen at the residence. The incident was reported to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office at 4:30pm when the owners returned home. Reported stolen is a 42 inch Plasma TV, a camera, cash and approximately $12,000 worth of jewelry. Entry was made through a door of the residence breaking through a locked dead bolt.

On Monday, March 8, 2010, a camp owner from 1479 Sauce Piquant Lane in Bayou Corne reported a 1996 weldcraft Aluminum Boat (14-15 feet in length), a1995, 20 horsepower Mercury Outboard Motor and a 1996 EZ Loader Boat Trailer stolen. A neighbor had noticed the boat at the camp during the week and on March 6, 2010 noticed the Boat missing.

On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, a resident at 438 B Bayou Drive of Pierre Part reported the theft of his 2006, 25 Horsepower Yamaha Motor and the its fuel tank which was stolen off his boat parked in Bayou Pierre Part at the time. The boat was taken from in front of the residence to an area down the bayou where the motor was removed. The suspect then attempted to sink the boat. The following day, a caller reported to detectives that at approximately 1:30 am on March 9, 2010, he had seen two subjects being dropped off on Bayou drive by someone in a vehicle. The caller was unable to get description of the vehicle but did notice the subjects later moving slowly in a boat down the bayou. The caller said at the time he did not suspect any wrongdoing.

Also, on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at approximately 8:15 am, a resident from 2845 Lee Drive in Pierre Part, reported the theft of his 1979, 20 horsepower outboard motor and its fuel tank. The items were removed from the boat which was also in Bayou Pierre Part in front of his residence. The boat was taken to another location where the items were removed and later sunk.

All identifiable stolen items where serial and model numbers could be located were entered into a national database so that in the event they are located by another law enforcement agency we will be notified. As well, they have been entered into an online registry which tracks reported pawn shop purchases and sales, etc.

At this time, we have not been able to identify the suspect or suspects involved in these cases. A REWARD may be offered if your information leads to the arrest of suspects involved. You will need to contact us for further details concerning any reward to be offered. As a reminder it is very important to call if you see any suspicious persons or suspicious activity in your neighborhood. As well, you can remain anonymous when reporting any and all information concerning this case or future complaints of suspicious activity.
