Murder/Suicide Attakapas Landing Bar - Sunday, May 23, 2010
Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at approximately 12:08AM, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call concerning a shooting at the Lakeview Inn Bar at Attakapas Landing in Napoleonville, LA.

Upon arrival at the scene Deputies discovered an apparent murder/suicide. Witnesses reported that minutes earlier Mr. Gary Leblanc, 50 years of age, entered the bar and shot his estranged wife, Mrs. Jennifer Leblanc, age 44, multiple times. Mr. Leblanc then used the handgun to commit suicide. Both subjects were residents of Napoleonville.

APSO records document the following incidents:

On October 3, 2009, Mr. Leblanc was arrested for Simple Battery after deputies determined that he struck his wife in the face during an argument.

On January 24, 2010, Mrs. Leblanc filed a report alleging that her ex husband shot her dog in July of 2009. Arrest warrants were subsequently issued for Mr. Leblanc for the offenses of Illegal use of a weapon and Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal. He was arrested on February 9, 2010.

On January 27, 2010, Mrs. Leblanc obtained a Protective Order against her ex-husband. The order was to remain in effect until January 20, 2011.

This matter remains under investigation.
