In June 2010, the owner of Robert's Food Store in Labadieville reported an employee theft which occurred at his store. The owner reported that for the last 2 years, he noticed that funds from his store's account have been dwindling. He advised that he had consulted with his CPA and learned that monies from the sales of Western Union money orders were missing from his store's account.
During the course of the investigation, APSO Detectives learned that Julie Gregoire, an employee at Robert's Food Store, created over 200 money orders with a monetary value exceeding $160,000.00. The funds from these money orders were unaccounted for and cashed at various locations throughout the State of Louisiana.
Julie Gregoire was subsequently questioned by Detectives and confessed to creating and cashing a majority of the money orders. Gregoire indicated that her ex-boyfriend, David Allemand Jr, was also involved in cashing several of the money orders and knew that she was fraudulently creating the money orders from Robert's Food Store.
Arrest warrants were obtained for both Julie Gregoire and David Allemand Jr. On August 15, 2010, David Allemand was located by Assumption Deputies and arrested on his stated warrant. On August 17, 2010, Julie Gregoire turned herself into Assumption Detectives and also arrested on her stated warrant.
David Allemand Jr remains incarcerated at the Ascension Parish Detention Center in lieu of a $200,000 bond. Julie Gregoire was released on a $200,000 bond pending her court date. Information on both suspects is as follows:
