Two Men Arrested For Attempted 2nd Degree Murder - Tuesday, January 18, 2011

On December 27, 2010, a 911 caller advised that she needed an ambulance for her boyfriend who was bleeding heavily. Acadian Ambulance was dispatched and met the subject and his wife at the McDonalds in Thibodaux on Highway 1 and the patient was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. We later received a call from Thibodaux Regional Medical Center Emergency room reporting that the patient brought in had been shot in the arm. The victim was treated and later released.

Captain Darren Crochet initiated an investigation and it was revealed later that the victim, an adult male from Labadieville, and his girlfriend had stopped at the corner of Alvin Street and Back Marais Street to speak with 2 male subjects. According to the victim, one male subject pulled a gun and demanded them to "give it up and get out of the truck”. As he attempted to flee, the driver heard gun fire as he raised his elbow and sped off quickly. After he drove off, he noticed his arm getting num and his girlfriend later called 911 for help.

Jordy Brown was later identified as being one of the subjects who approached the truck during the attempted robbery. He was interviewed and he admitted being at the scene and speaking to the driver of the truck. He identified the other male, Calvin Johnson, as the one who ordered the driver to give it up as he pointed a gun at him. Brown indicated as the driver fled that the gun went off.

Calvin Johnson, age 18, of 3372 Back Marais Street, Napoleonville was arrested Friday evening January 14th and charged with attempted 2nd degree murder. Johnson's is being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center and his bond has been set at $75.000. Jordy Brown, age 17, of 6-J Circle, Houma was also arrested and charged with attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Brown is being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center and his bond has been set at $100,000.
