Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that the Assumption Parish Detectives have made three arrests in connection with the murder of Anna Mae Hidalgo, an 84 year old woman of Belle Rose who was reported missing on Sunday, March 13, 2011.
Mrs. Hidalgo's 2005 tan colored Chevrolet Impala bearing Louisiana Handicap License plate H229715 was discovered at approximately 5:00PM abandoned in a wooded area, a short distance from her residence. During a search of the residence deputies discovered obvious signs of a struggle. Mrs. Hidalgo's last contact with family members was on Saturday evening. The Assumption Parish Sheriff, Lafourche Parish Sheriff, Ascension Parish Sheriff, Louisiana State Police Air Support and local volunteers assisted in the search and later located Mrs. Anna Mae Hidalgo's body on Monday. Her body was spotted in a canal off Myles Road in Iberville Parish by a Louisiana State Police Helicopter Pilot who was involved in the search. Louisiana State Police Crime Lab Personnel recovered the body from the waterway and the body was released at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner to the Assumption Parish Coroner. Her body was later sent to the Orleans Parish Forensics Center where an autopsy was performed and it was determined that the cause of death is manual strangulation. As well, it was confirmed that there was also blunt force trauma to the head. During the course of the investigation which continued on Tuesday, Raven Blanchard, age 23, from 7507 Highway one, Belle Rose, came forward with information that implicated herself, a 12 year old juvenile from Belle Rose and Dean Hue Sr., age 30, from 7507 Highway One, Belle Rose in this homicide. Subsequently, both the 12 year old and Dean Hue Sr. also admitted their involvement in this homicide.
The 12 year male juvenile has been arrested charged with First Degree Murder. Dean Hue Sr. and Raven Blanchard have been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Theft (Automobile). The juvenile is currently being held at the St. James Youth Detention Center. Dean Hue Sr. and Raven Blanchard are being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center. As of the time of this release, no bonds have been set.
