Warrant Issued For Shooter at Recent Parade (Krewe of Xanadu) in Labadieville. - Wednesday, March 23, 2011

As reported in a previous news release, on Monday March 7, 2011, deputies patrolling along the parade route on Brule Road, Labadieville heard 2 gun shots around 7:36 p.m. At the time of the shooting large crowds were gathered along the roadway as the tail end of the Krewe of Xanadu's parade had just passed through that area. As deputies responded to the scene and crowds dispersed, a black male subject was found lying on the shoulder of the road way in the 300 block of Brule Road suffering with a gunshot to the thigh area of his leg. Deputies and First Responders initially provided medical help to the wounded man and then Acadian Ambulance transported him to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. He was subsequently transferred to another hospital where he was treated and released. The victim is a 21 year old from Paincourtville, Louisiana.

Assumption Parish Detectives immediately began investigating the shooting and gathered evidence from the scene and interviewed potential witnesses. The Shooter has been identified as Jamiah Harris, age 19, of 139-B Violet Street, Labadieville, Louisiana. A judicial warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Ralph Tureau on March 18, 2011.
