Traffic Stop Yields Drugs and Stolen Gun - Friday, April 1, 2011

On March 30, 2011, Deputy Hayward "Jamie” Coddou was patrolling on Highway 1 just south of Napoleonville when he initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after he observed the driver not wearing a seatbelt. Upon making contact with the driver he detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from his person. Upon closer observation, the deputy noticed what appeared to be a marijuana blunt cigarette wedged behind his ear. The driver was then placed under arrest. Upon search of the vehicle, an assortment of narcotics was located along with a 9 millimeter Hand Gun with two loaded magazines. This gun had been reported stolen recently in Lafourche Parish.

Ronald D. Johnson, age 24, of 3372 Back Marais Lane, Napoleonville, was arrested and booked on the following charges: No Seat Belt, Driving under Suspension, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Ecstasy, Possession of Cocaine, Possession with intent to distribute Crack Cocaine, Possession of Zanbar, Possession of Lortab, Possession of Firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Possession of stolen firearm. His Bond has been set at $61,300.00 and he is still incarcerated at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
