Traffic Stop Yields Crystal Meth and Guns - Monday, April 25, 2011

On April 23, 2011, Deputy Hayward "Jamie” Coddou was patrolling Highway 1 in Napoleonville near Charlie's One Stop Convenience Store when he initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after he observed the driver not wearing a seatbelt. As Deputy Coddou approached the vehicle, he observed a black handgun and glass smoking pipe on the driver's side of the vehicle. Deputy Coddou then received consent to search the vehicle and located 5 small clear packets of suspected crystal meth, a container of approximately 2 grams of crystal meth and 2 handguns were located in the vehicle. The driver was then placed under arrest and $1,822 in cash was seized from his person.

Mickey P. Sanchez, age 44, of 346 Highway 401, Lot B, Napoleonville was arrested and booked on the following charges: No Seat Belt, Prohibited Acts-Schedule II (Crystal Meth), Prohibited Acts-Drug Paraphernalia, 2 Counts of Illegal Carrying of Weapons. His Bond has been set at $45,650.00 and he is still incarcerated at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
