Sheriff Mike Waguespack on Monday, August 1, 2011, a 72 year old female cab driver reported that she was robbed at knifepoint by a customer. The woman reported that at approximately shortly after 6:00AM the suspect called for a ride from the St. John Community to Labadieville.
Minutes later she picked up the suspect at the intersection of Brule Road and Hwy 1. He directed her to drive to a residence at 108 Michelle Street in Labadieville where he exited under the pretense that he was getting money to pay the cab fare. Upon exiting he returned to cab and asked the driver to bring him to a nearby ATM. While they were traveling to the ATM the suspect produced a knife and robbed the driver of an undetermined amount of cash. He then exited the cab and the driver fled to contact police.
APSO Detectives initiated an investigation into incident and identified Devin Daigle 22years of age as a potential suspect. Daigle residence in a small apartment attached to the residence at 108 Michelle Street. Investigators subsequently executed a search warrant at the residence and discovered Daigle inside. During the search investigators seized a knife that may have been used in the robbery, a small amount of suspected cocaine, and three CDS pills. Daigle was arrested for the possession of the narcotics and an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. A hold was placed on Daigle by the Louisiana office of Probation and Parole.
Investigators are in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for Daigle of the Armed Robbery. He is currently being held at the APSO Detention Center in Napoleonville and no bonds have been set as of the time of this release.
