Bayou L'Ourse-At approximately 5:35 am Sunday morning, Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office received a call from a resident from Ann Street in the Bayou L'Ourse community stating that he woke up for work and noticed a white male running through his yard with an arm full of items. Deputies arrived and learned that someone had entered the resident's outdoor shed and stole several hundred feet of welding leads, Industrial Extension Cords and Industrial Air Hoses along with other smaller items. During the investigation, deputies produced a suspect who lives directly behind the complainant's residence. Deputies spotted the male walking out the rear residence and the complainant was able to identify him as being the person who was in his yard earlier. After receiving permission to search from the homeowner, deputies located all stolen items in the suspect's yard, storage shed and underneath his residence. Detectives were called to the scene and questioned the suspect who later confessed to the burglary. During questioning, the suspect admitted to other crimes in other jurisdictions. Detectives will forward this information to the respective agencies for further investigation.
Michael A. Dupre (W/M 17yoa) who resides at 131 Greenleaf Blvd, Bayou L'Ourse is the identified suspect and has been charged with simple burglary, theft over $500, and criminal trespassing. He is being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he is awaiting his bond to be set.
