On the afternoon of August 31, 2011, deputies responded to an emergency call of a residential burglary in progress on Daggs Streeet. Deputies arrived and spoke with residents in the area and learned that at least two young black males were seen going into a residence and then throwing what appeared to be weapons out of a back window. An aware neighbor yelled at the apparent juveniles that he was going to call the police. The male subjects then ran off on foot. Deputies did recover 1 shotgun and 1 rifle near the burglarized home.
On the following morning a concerned mother brought her young son to the criminal investigative division stating that she felt her son (15yoa, B/M) was involved. After questioning the male, he confessed to the burglary. He was booked, as a juvenile, on the charge of Simple Burglary. This investigation then led to another subject who was also believed to be involved. The second juvenile (15yoa, B/M) was questioned by detectives. He too confessed and was booked on the same charge of Simple Burglary. Both juveniles were later released to the custody of their parents.
The investigation into this matter continues and additional arrests are expected. If you have any additional information, please contact Assumption Parish Detectives at (985) 526-1627, or our Communications Division at (985)369-2912.
