On the evening of October 18, 2011, undercover agents with Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office were patrolling the Belle Rose Community when they observed a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass driving on Champ Lane at what appeared to be at a high rate of speed. Agents followed the vehicle to the rear onto Georgetown Loop Road and noticed that the vehicle was not displaying a license plate. When the vehicle came to a stop at the stop sign at Georgetown Loop and Georgetown St., Agents attempted to make contact with the driver. The driver, identified as Robert Fair, Jr., jumped from the driver side of vehicle, pulling an assault rifle from the vehicle and pointed it towards the Agents. Agents identified themselves and were able to talk him into dropping the weapon. Fair was taken into custody without further incident. Agents located several loaded magazines for the assault rifle and other assorted ammunitions for various weapons in the vehicle. Also located were four large bags of suspected marijuana on his person.
Robert L. Fair, Jr. (B/M, 37yoa of 171 Myles Street, Paincourtville, LA) was booked into Assumption Parish Detention Center on the charges of a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana and vehicle license plate required. Fair has a prior drug conviction and a prior conviction for attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His Bond has been set at $75,100.
