AMIkids Donaldsonville Board Member Sheriff Mike Waguespack Receives National Award - Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Sheriff Mike Waguespack of Assumption Parish was selected by a national panel to receive one of AMIkids, Inc.'s top board awards, the Educating Policymakers Award.

Greg Kleinpeter, Regional Director of AMIkids Louisiana and Tamiko Garrison, Executive Director of AMIkids Donaldsonville nominated Sheriff Waguespack, detailing his unparalleled devotion to the organization and investment in the success of the communities' youth. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help AMIkids Louisiana more specifically AMIkids Donaldsonville. The award was presented in Tampa, Florida at the 2011 AMIkids, Inc. Board of Trustees Annual Meeting.

In addition, AMIkids Donaldsonville received an award for Highest Attendance Rate for AMIkids, Inc. Day Treatment Programs for FY 2011 and the Tamiko Garrison Executive Director received an AMIkids, Inc. award for her Leadership in Community Relations.

Success is prevalent within the walls of AMIkids Donaldsonville, during the conference it was noted that AMIkids Donaldsonville had a 95% success rate with the students (5% recidivism rate per Justice Research Center of Florida).

The AMIkids Donaldsonville's board members include Sheriff Mike Waguespack (Chariman), Michael Foster (Vice Chairman), Sheriff Willy Martin, Sheriff Jeff Wiley, Mayor Leroy Sullivan, Hearing Officer Jessie LeBlanc, and Clifton Ourso.
