2 Paincourtville Men (Cousins) Arrested for Thefts - Friday, October 28, 2011

On August 18, 2011, Detectives responded to a complaint from an Assumption Parish Resident in reference to a theft of a firearm while he was parked at the library in Pierre Part. The complainant reported that he met with an acquaintance at that location who asked for some information and then the subject left shortly thereafter. After he left, he noticed his firearm was missing from his vehicle. Detectives recently obtained information in reference to some stolen guns which had been sold by the suspect, Branden Landry, (w/m, age 24) of 6013 Highway 1, Paincourtville to a subject in Belle Rose, Louisiana. The purchaser turned over to Detectives the reported stolen Smith and Wesson 40 caliber pistol as noted above and a Berretta 32 caliber automatic pistol reported to be stolen out of Terrebonne Parish.

In a second case, a paincourtville resident reported on September 28, 2011, that her son's dirt bike was stolen. The motorcycle was a 2006 Honda CR 125 and Detectives also learned recently that this bike was sold to a subject from Tickfaw, Louisiana. Detectives made contact with the subject who was in possession of the motorcycle and are in the process of recovering the stolen property. Detective Captain Darren Crochet interviewed Branden Landry who advised that his cousin, Leadd Lacoste, (w/m, age 20) of 6013 Highway 1, Paincourtville, Louisiana had stolen the dirt bike and stored it in a shed until they sold it. The Tickfaw Resident advised Detectives that he met with Branden Landry and traded a four wheeler ATV for the motorcycle.

Branden Landry was arrested and charged on October 27, 2011, with the Theft of Firearm and with the Theft of a Dirt Bike valued over $3,000.00.

Leadd Lacoste was arrested and charged with Theft of a Dirt Bike valued over $3,000.00.

Both subjects are being held at the Assumption Parish Detention center and are awaiting bonds to be set.
