Pierre Part Man Arrested For Armed Robber of Convenience Store (Cracker Barrel-Pierre Part) - Monday, January 2, 2012

Around 2 am this morning, Assumption Parish Communications Center received a call from a convenience store clerk working at the Cracker Barrel in Pierre Part advising that he had just been held up at gun point. The subject was described as a white male wearing a green jacket, neoprene face mask, gloves with fluorescent coloring and he was carrying an "under armour” duffel bag and a small pistol. He demanded the clerk give him the money and the clerk complied. The clerk told deputies that he left with approximately $75.00 of cash and a change jar with an undetermined amount of change.

Road Deputies and Detectives initiated an investigation immediately. As well, Dispatchers noted receiving a call about 20 minutes prior to this armed robbery where a subject reported accident involving 2 cars with unknown injuries in the area of Highway 1000 and Highway 1001. Deputies were unable to locate the accident and Dispatchers then made contact with the cell phone caller who said the parties decided to take the matter up with their insurance companies. The cell phone caller identified himself under what appeared to be a fictitious name and would not provide his driver's license number. Dispatchers then searched an in-house database and found this same cell phone number was associated with a complainant named John Brouillette, Jr. of Pierre Part who had called in a complaint on September 16, 2011. Deputies and Detectives arrived at his residence and smelled what appeared to be marijuana smoke coming from the residence. Deputies knocked on the door and were allowed into the residence (mobile home at 479 Shell Beach Road) by his mother and found Brouillette who quickly surrendered the marijuana in his possession. Brouillette was detained and a search warrant was conducted shortly thereafter on the residence and deputies located what appears to be the pistol, the jacket, the gloves, the mask, and the duffel bag used in the armed robbery. As well, cash and change was recovered. Brouillette was taken in for questioning and gave a full confessed to the armed robbery.

John Brouillette, Jr., age 30, of 113 Lawes Street, Pierre Part was arrested this morning and charged with possession of schedule I controlled dangerous substances and armed robbery. Brouillette is being held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center and his bond has not been set as of the time of this release. It should be noted that Brouillette is currently out on bond for a January 2011 distribution of marijuana charge where he is scheduled to be sentenced on January 18, 2012.
