Traffic Stop Yeilds Xanax Pills - Monday, February 27, 2012

On February 27, 2012, Deputies stopped a vehicle for illegal tint violations. The vehicle was occupied by a female driver, male passenger and an approximately one year old baby. During the course of the traffic stop, a deputy witnessed the front male passenger place an object in the front of his jeans. Deputies then asked the male passenger to exit the vehicle so that a pat down could be performed for officer safety. While complying with the pat down, an orange prescription bottle with the label torn off fell to the street from within the bottom of his jeans leg. The subject quickly picked it up in an effort to conceal it in his right pantís pocket but he was intercepted by a deputy. Upon inventory of the prescription bottle, it was found to contain 133 small pills believed to be Alprazolam which is known as Xanax.

Cody J. Theriot, age 32, of 322 Shell Beach Road, Pierre Part, was arrested and booked on the following charges: Possession with intent to distribute schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substances (Xanax) and Illegal possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17 years of age.
