On Tuesday, March 6, 2012, the Fourth Annual DWI Law
Enforcement Award Program was held in Baton
Rouge. This banquet was sponsored by the Louisiana
Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) under the leadership of Lt. Col. John Leblanc.
Annually, LHSC awards various Law Enforcement agencies for their efforts in
making arrests and pursuing the prosecution of DWI offenders. The Assumption
Parish Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Donnie Calamia, Jr., were honored with the
receipt of DWI Law Enforcement Awards. This award is based on the amount of
overall DWI arrests made in a parish as it relates to its population census.
"I am proud of Deputy Donnie Calamia, Jr.’s efforts in
removing impaired drivers from our roadways. We will continue our DWI Law
Enforcement efforts and want to thank Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for
recognizing our Team’s effort,” Sheriff Mike Waguespack
