15 Year Old Juvenile Stabbed to Death by Another 15 Year Old Juvenile - Friday, March 9, 2012

At 6:09 pm yesterday, Assumption Parish Dispatch Center received a 911 call in reference to a juvenile male subject lying in the middle of Dorseyville Lane with a stab wound to his side. Shortly thereafter at 6:12 pm, a female caller advised she was in route to her residence because she just got off the phone with her son who stated to her he had just stabbed a subject. Deputies, Acadian Ambulance and Paincourtville Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. The victim was transported to Assumption Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives detained a 15 year old subject who was later questioned in the presence of his mother. The 15 year old confessed to the stabbing of Eric Myles, Jr. (15 yoa, 10th grade Assumption High School Student) who resides on Daggs Street, Belle Rose, Louisiana known as the Dorseyville Community. Daggs Street borders Dorseyville Lane and both juveniles were nearby neighbors. An eye witness to the fight in the street said she saw what appeared to be the beginning stages of a fistic encounter. The subjects were swinging fists at each other and then one juvenile backed away, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the side. The witness said she saw the Juvenile then remove the knife from his side. The victim ran about 300 feet and then collapsed. Detectives have learned that during the past couple of weeks, they had developed a strained relationship where one did not like the other and they had argued and fought before in the neighborhood. They did have an exchange of words at school one day but they did not engage in a fistic encounter.

Last night, Detectives arrested the 15 year old male who is a 9th grade student at Assumption High School and charged him with 2nd degree murder. He is being held at the St. James Parish Youth Center. The knife, which is a kitchen grade butcher knife, was recovered from his residence.

Additional security/deputies were sent to Assumption High School this morning as a precautionary measure. According to School Officials, counselors will also be on hand to handle the needs of the students affected by this homicide.

The victimís body will be sent for autopsy by the Assumption Parish Coroner to determine the exact cause of death.
