Deputies Foil Bank Robbery in Napoleonville - Tuesday, April 17, 2012

At 3:34pm today, an Assumption Parish Deputy/School Resource Officer, who had stopped at a convenience store across the street from First American Bank in Napoleonville (located at corner of Highway 1 and Highway 401) was immediately approached by a female subject who stated she saw three black males who appeared to be masked up and may be attempting to rob the bank. The deputy responded and alerted dispatch and all available units to respond after he noticed the subjects fleeing from behind the bank. Several Deputies and the Sheriff responded to the scene and began a foot chase and immediately apprehended 2 suspects. A third suspect was located a few minutes later at a residence in the Village of Napoleonville. The three subjects are under arrest at this time for attempted armed robbery.

Detectives responded to the scene and recovered a revolver dropped in the back yard of a residence behind the bank as well as black t-shirts, socks and other clothing believed to be used to conceal their identity during the robbery attempt.

We will follow up with the additional news release once the initial investigation is concluded and after the arrestees are booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
