Update- Deputies Foil Bank Robbery in Napoleonville - Wednesday, April 18, 2012
At 3:34pm yesterday, an Assumption Parish Deputy/School
Resource Officer, who had stopped at a convenience store across the street from
First American Bank in Napoleonville (located at corner of Highway 1 and
Highway 401) was immediately approached by a female subject who stated she saw
three black males who appeared to be masked up and may be attempting to rob the
bank. The deputy responded and alerted dispatch and all available units to
respond after he noticed the subjects fleeing from behind the bank. Several
Deputies and the Sheriff responded to the scene and began a foot chase and
immediately apprehended 2 suspects. A third suspect was located a few minutes
later at a residence in the Village
of Napoleonville.
Detectives responded to the scene and recovered a revolver
dropped in the back yard of a residence behind the bank as well as black
t-shirts, socks and other clothing believed to be used to conceal their
identity during the robbery attempt. One suspect, Samuel T. Johnson, later gave
Detectives and full confession of his involvement and implicated his two
accomplices in the attempted armed robbery of the abovementioned bank.
The following three suspects were booked in the Assumption Parish
Detention Center
last night and charged as follows: Samuel T. Johnson, age 19, of 410 Canal
Street, Napoleonville; Corey Jupiter,
age 20, of 504 Owens Street, Napoleonville; Geondre
J. Thomas aka "G Money”, age 19, of 116 Eleven Street, Morgan City were all
charged with Attempted Armed Robbery. No bonds have been set as of the time of this
release and these suspects are currently being housed at the Assumption Parish
Detention Center.
Assumption Parish Detectives have been in touch with the
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and will turn over all reports and
information obtained from this investigation to the FBI for them to review with
respect to Federal Charges as this bank is a federally insured financial
institution.
This is an ongoing investigation. We want to also personally
thank those responsible citizens for reporting to us this suspicious activity
which allowed deputies to foil this armed robbery incident. If anyone has any
