On July 18, 2012 around 7:30 this morning, the Assumption
Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to Creole Street
in the Belle Rose Community for a vehicle burglary where two pistols were
missing from an unlocked vehicle.
Detectives arrived on scene and began processing the vehicle for
evidence. While processing the scene, several
good Samaritans approached the detective and advised him of a young male who
had been seen in the area. Detectives
were able to track the juvenile down on the same street. Detectives questioned the juvenile and were
able to recover the two weapons and other stolen items. Detectives arrested one 13year old juvenile this
morning and charged him with one Count of Simple Burglary. He is currently being housed at the St. James
Youth Detention Center pending a hearing.
Sheriff Waguespack would like to thank the good Samaritans
in this case, for it was their wanting to help one another that helped solve
this case. "This is a prime example of
the community helping law enforcement in making Assumption Parish a better
place to live.”
