10 Year Old Juvenile Arrested For Vandalism of Businesses - Friday, October 12, 2012

On the September 23, 2012, deputies responded to a complaint of vandalism at the Pierre Part Store. One of the owners stated that he heard a noise from behind the store and located 2 young male juveniles behind the store. Both Juveniles later confessed to detectives that they entered the lumber yard through a small hole in the fence and began playing in trucks that were parked inside the building. One of the juveniles drove one of the trucks into another truck and into a large garage door causing heavy damage to the vehicles and building. Both admitted to spraying fire extinguishers into the building as well. Both juveniles also admitted to vandalizing a jeep belonging to one of the store owners which was reported in August of 21012. While confessing, one of the juveniles also admitted to vandalizing the Pierre Car Wash which was caught on video surveillance. The juvenile smashed the glass on a money machine by breaking the glass with a rock. The ten year old was arrested this week for all three crimes. He was charged with 3 counts of criminal damage to property (estimate of damage over $11,000) and 3 counts of criminal trespassing. He was booked and later released back to his mother. The nine year old was not arrested, because under Louisiana State Law those who have not reached the age of 10 years are exempt from criminal responsibility.
