Juvenile Arrested for Bomb Threat - Friday, November 2, 2012

On Tuesday, October 30th, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint around 10:25 a.m. concerning a "Bomb Threat” that was called in to the Assumption Pharmacy located at 120 Washington Street in Napoleonville. The Pharmacy and neighboring businesses were evacuated until Louisiana State Police Bomb Technicians could clear the scene. The scene was cleared about an hour later and businesses were allowed to resume normal operations.

Captain Ray Traigle led the investigation with the assistance of Louisiana State Police and the State of Louisiana Fusion (Intelligence) Center. The number that was called in to the pharmacy was identified by an alert employee who was able to preserve it via caller ID. The number was subsequently traced to the owner of the phone who resides in Napoleonville around 1:30 p.m. of the same day. As the owner of the phone was being interviewed, her 11 year old son who was present admitted to using the phone to call in the bomb threat. He was subsequently booked with 1 count of Communication of False Information of a Planned Arson. He is currently being held at the St. James Youth Detention center pending a hearing scheduled to take place early next week. The fact that he was not in School is being further investigated with School Officials and Truancy Officers.
