Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Monday afternoon dispatchers received a 911 call concerning a shooting in the 4500 block of Hwy 308 in Napoleonville. Upon arrival on the scene Deputies discovered Skilar Rhodes, age 21, on the ground suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Investigators determined that earlier that afternoon Daron Holloway (21 year old black male from Belle Point Lane, Napoleonville) came to Rhodes's residence and the two were involved in an altercation. Holloway responded by retrieving a small handgun pointing it at Rhodes. As Rhodes fled, Holloway fired a single shot striking him in the back. Holloway then fled in a faded black Ford Escort.
Rhodes was transported to Prevost Hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service and immediately airlifted to a Baton Rouge area hospital. Rhodes is listed in guarded condition as of this afternoon.
Deputies attempted to locate Holloway at his residence on Belle Point Lane in Napoleonville but believe he may have fled to the Gonzales area.
An arrest warrant will be issued for Holloway for Attempted Second Degree Murder. A recent photo of Holloway is also attached for distribution.
