NAPOLEONVILLE--- Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Thursday, January 23, 2014, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division received an anonymous phone call about a possible drug transaction taking place in Labadieville. Deputies began a search for one of the vehicles that was travelling towards Napoleonville. When the vehicle was located around 11 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted. The driver, Alton Herbert, age 22, of 151 Hwy 1003, Belle Rose, Louisiana, attempted to flee when officers asked to pat him down for their own safety. After a short foot chase he was apprehended and arrested. In his possession deputies found a loaded .357 Smith & Wesson revolver, $704 in cash, 40 clear individually packed zip loc bags containing a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana, 27 individually packed zip loc bags of a green leafy substance believed to be synthetic Marijuana ready for sale, and a clear plastic bag with 10 pills identified as Lortabs. Inside the vehicle deputies discovered several different packets of synthetic Marijuana to include 14 individual packs of Ironman 4 grams each, 2 packs of Lotus 4 grams each, 4 packs of Bomb Marley 4 grams each and 2 packs of I Blown. He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center for Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I – Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I - Synthetic Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II – Lortabs, Illegal Carrying of a weapon, Possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS, Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting an Officer, and Illegal Window Tint.
The total street value of the recovered narcotics is approximately four thousand dollars ($4,000.) His bond has not been set as of the time of this release.
