PIERRE PART--- Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 6:04pm, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 461 Shell Beach Road in reference to two shots being fired from that residence. The complaint was called in by a neighbor who heard the shots. The residence was reported to be where David Hebert, his girlfriend, infant child, and mother resided. Responding deputies were able to get a visual into the residence through the bedroom window. They observed a female subject on the floor and a male subject along with an infant lying in the bed. None of the subjects were moving. They were unable to gain any response from the subjects. After a period of time, deputies did hear some movement inside of the residence.

Due to the nature of the circumstances at that point, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was activated. On various occasions while attempting to approach the rear of the residence, a male subject inside the residence, later identified as David Hebert, continued to shout at team members to stay away from the door. Eventually, through hostage negotiators, team members were able to gain access into the residence. All occupants were deemed unharmed at that point. He continued to refuse to let his girlfriend and 8 week old baby leave the residence. After speaking with Hebert shortly, he was advised that he was under arrest. He did provide a brief struggle to deputies that were attempting to take him into custody. They were forced to physically place him into custody at approximately 9:00pm.

David Hebert, age 29, of 461 Shell Beach Road, Pierre Part was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center in violation of LA RS 14:108 Resisting an Officer and LA R.S. 14:94 Illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities. This is an ongoing investigation. His bond has not been set as of the time of this release.
