LABADIEVILLE--- Sheriff Mike Waguespack
reports that on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at approximately 3:45pm, the
Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about two juveniles walking along
Brule Road in Labadieville and one was carrying a gun. The responding deputies intercepted the
juveniles near a residence at the corner of Willow and Pine Streets. When confronted, the juveniles dropped
something and attempted to flee. One was
caught quickly, the second juvenile was later discovered hiding in a wooded
area a few blocks away. The handgun was recovered by deputies underneath a mobile home. Both juveniles
were determined to be 16 years old.
juvenile was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center for 40:966 –
Possession of Schedule 1 Marijuana, 14:95.1 – Possession of a firearm in the
presence of a CDS, 14:108 – Resisting an Officer. He is still in custody at this time pending a
hearing. The second juvenile was booked
in the Assumption Parish Detention Center for 14:91.8 – Underage possession of
tobacco, 14:108 – Resisting an Officer.
He was released to his mother.
