Mike Waguespack reports that on Sunday, March 20, 2014 at approximately 5:30pm,
the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about shots being fired in the 100
Block of Violet Street in Labadieville.
The responding deputies secured the scene and began looking for the
suspect, John Paul Washington, age 22.
It was learned that he had walked to the victims’ house and fired
several shots at the victims who were standing outside near their front
door. No one was hit but the bullets
struck the doorframe just about their heads.
Assumption Parish Criminal Investigation Division Detectives were
dispatched to the scene. During the
course of the investigation, detectives spoke with witnesses and the victims
and later obtained an arrest warrant. It
was then that they learned that the suspect was at a Regional Behavioral Health
Unit where he was taken into custody.
Washington, who resides at 205 Violet Street, Labadieville, La, was booked in
the Assumption Parish Detention Center yesterday for two counts of 14:27.30.1 –

Marijuana. His bond has been set at $100,839
by the 23rd Judicial District Court and he is still in custody as of
