NAPOLEONVILLE --- Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Monday, February 2nd, 2015 at approximately 6:00am, Assumption Parish Dispatch received a call about damage done to a vehicle windshield. The suspect, Chad Butler, B/M, age 36 of 400 Elm Hall, Napoleonville had been sending threats and text messages that morning and the night before. Butler currently is under a stay away order from the complainant that was issued by the courts. Deputies attempted to locate Butler at his residence. At this time the complainant called back stating she was on her way to work and Butler was behind her trying to hit her vehicle. Dispatch advised deputies that he hit her vehicle twice with his vehicle but had turned around and was headed towards Bertrandville.

Deputies located his vehicle, made a traffic stop and attempted to take him into custody. After exiting his vehicle, Butler refused commands from deputies. When they attempted to take him into custody he actively resisted and fought with the deputies. A State Trooper arrived on scene and assisted with restraining Butler. One deputy was slightly injured and had to be evaluated at the hospital later.
