Waguespack reports that on Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at approximately
8:00am, Assumption Parish Dispatch received a complaint about the theft of a
horse. The investigation determined that
a bridle was missing from the stall in addition to the missing horse. At approximately 10:30am deputies were
advised of horse running a field near Hard Time Road in Napoleonville. The horse was captured and identified as the
investigation by the Assumption Parish Criminal Investigation Division led to
Maison Rivere, W/M, age 20, of 1615 Hwy 402, Napoleonville. He admitted to being drunk and was attempting
to ride the horse bareback all the way to Thibodaux to watch a Mardi Gras
parade. The horse bucked him off several
times enroute. At that point he set the
horse free and attempted to make his way home on foot.
Maison G. Rivere was booked in the Assumption Parish
Detention Center on February 20th, 2015 for LRS 14:56 Criminal
Damage to Property, LRS 14:102.1 Simple Cruelty to Animals, LRS 14:67 Theft (horse
valued at $10,000)(Felony). His bond has
not been set and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.
