Assumption Parish
Sheriff’s Office Helping Sponsor Fundraiser
for Council on Aging Meals
on Wheels Program
The Assumption
Parish Sheriff’s Office is helping sponsor a fundraiser for the local Council
on Aging (COA) and their Meals on Wheels program. A "Wild Beast Feast,” featuring seafood, wild
game and many other favorite local dishes will be held Sunday, June 7th, 11- 2
at St. Joseph the Worker Church Hall, 3304 Highway 70 South in Pierre
Part. Tickets for the event are $25 and
can be purchased at any APSO office or at the Council on Aging, 166 Highway
1008 in Napoleonville.
"Our senior
citizens are a precious part of our community, heritage and way of life in
Assumption Parish,” Sheriff Mike Waguespack said. "Many of them count on Meals on Wheels for
daily nutrition and supporting this worthy program is the least we can do to
help those who have helped so many of us.”
Although meals
can be delivered to elderly and fixed income seniors for a little as $1 per
day, the Council on Aging needs a revenue stream to ensure the program
continues and potentially expands to serve more of our elderly and fixed income
citizens.
"It is our hope
that this event becomes an annual fundraiser for the COA as they continue their
good work on behalf of our senior citizens,” Sheriff Waguespack said. "Please make an effort to attend as there
will be plenty of delicious food prepared by many local chefs, who are some of
the best cooks in the world! And, every
penny raised benefits a great cause.”
