NAPOLEONVILLE--- Sheriff Mike Waguespack
reports that on Thursday, May 28th, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm, Assumption
Parish Dispatch received a call about camp on fire in Bay Natchez in St. Martin
Parish. Approximately 3 hours later
Assumption Parish Dispatch received a call about a camp burglary in the Belle River
area. Detectives were dispatched to the
location, processed the scene and spoke with the victim. Through the investigation detectives received
names of individuals that may have been involved. They made contact with the two possible
suspects who were riding in a boat in the area and time of the camp fire. The investigation by the Assumption Parish
Criminal Investigation Division led to the arrest of Brett Hebert, W/M, age 18,
of 138 Agnes Street, Pierre Part and a 13 year old juvenile male from Pierre
Part. Detectives interviewed the two
subjects who admitted to committing one burglary in Assumption Parish and two
in St. Martin Parish which included setting fire to the camp in Bay Natchez. Information that was gathered will be shared
with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office to assist them in reference to
additional break-ins and the arson case in that parish.
Brett Hebert was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention
Center on May 29th, 2015 for LRS 14:56 Criminal Damage to Property,
LRS 14:62 Simple Burglary, LRS 14:92 Contributing to the Delinquency of a minor. His bond has been set at $22,000 and he is
still in custody as of the time of this release. The juvenile was booked into
the Assumption Parish Juvenile Detention Center on May 29th, 2015
for LRS 14:56 Criminal Damage to Property, LRS 14:62 Simple Burglary. His bond has not been set and he is still in
custody as of the time of this release.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office has a hold placed on their release.
