APSO and COUNCIL ON AGING FUNDRAISER FOLLOWUP - Thursday, June 25, 2015

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone that came out to support our "Wild Beast Feast” a fundraiser for the local Council on Aging (COA) and their Meals on Wheels program.  Through your support, we were able to raise over $10,125 for this worthy program.  The community support far exceeded our expectations.

Mr. Jessie Dugas was named the Honorary Chairman and the 2015 Grand Marshal for the event.  For 50-plus years, he has dedicated his time to cooking for free for fundraisers, church fairs and people in need.

"Our senior citizens are a precious part of our community, heritage and way of life in Assumption Parish,” Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.  "Many of them count on Meals on Wheels for daily nutrition and supporting this worthy program is the least we can do to help those who have helped so many of us.”

Although meals can be delivered to elderly and fixed income seniors for as little as $1 per day, the Council on Aging needs a revenue stream to ensure the program continues and potentially expands to serve more of our elderly and fixed income citizens.

"It is our hope that this event becomes an annual fundraiser for the COA as they continue their good work on behalf of our senior citizens,” Sheriff Waguespack said.

We would also like to thank the many individual and corporate sponsors who provided donations and other in-kind contributions to make this event a success.
