HIGH SPEED CHASE YIELDS DRUGS/ARREST - Wednesday, September 2, 2015

PAINCOURTVILLE --- Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Tuesday, September 1st, 2015 at approximately 9:00am, Narcotics agents received a call about someone selling drugs in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store in Paincourtville. When agents arrived and activated their emergency lights the subject drove off at a high rate of speed onto Highway 1 nearly striking a vehicle. The pursuit crossed Bayou Lafourche on the Highway 403 bridge. While crossing the bridge the driver crossed the centerline and threw several objects into the bayou. These were later recovered. As the pursuit continued southbound on Highway 308 the driver threw additional items out of the car. The driver stopped a short distance later and surrendered to officers. Justin Fair, B/M, age 32, of 171 Miles Street, Paincourtville was taken into custody at that time. Agents recovered $465 in cash along with a plastic baggie with individually wrapped baggies inside containing suspected heroin. The items recovered from the bayou contained several large chunks of suspected crack cocaine weighing almost 2 ounces and large chunks of suspected heroin weighing over 1 ounce.

Justin Fair was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on September 1st, 2015 for LRS 40:966 Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Heroin), LRS 40:967 Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Crack Cocaine), LRS 14:130.1 Obstruction of justice, LRS 14:108 Resisting arrest, LRS 32:79 Improper lane usage, LRS 32:123 Stop sign violation, LRS 40:1023 Drug paraphernalia . His bond has not been set at this time and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.
