NARCOTICS ARREST - Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of a Bayou L’Ourse man resulting from a traffic stop.

On Thursday night, June 30, 2016, an Assumption Parish Sheriff’s narcotics agent observed a blue pick-up truck blocking traffic on Vivian Street in Bayou L’Ourse.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as Thomas Hughes, 28, of Greenleaf Boulevard in Bayou L’Ourse

During a subsequent search of Hughes’ vehicle, the agent seized a loaded handgun as well as a quantity of methamphetamines.

Hughes was booked into the parish jail on counts of:

*Obstruction of a Roadway

*Illegal Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substances

*Resisting an Officer

*Illegal Possession of Methamphetamines

*Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances.

Hughes was jailed pending a bond hearing.
