LABADIVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Martell Telfair, 32, of 6672 Highway 308, Belle Rose, LA following a traffic stop near Labadieville Saturday evening.
A uniform patrol officer observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road on LA 398 with its emergency flashers on. The deputy drove up behind the vehicle which quickly accelerated back into the roadway. The deputy pursued the vehicle into the Labadieville area during which items were thrown from the front passenger window. Deputies retrieved a bottle containing numerous doses of Xanax along the roadway.
After questioning all of the occupants, Telfair was arrested and transported to the parish jail. He was booked on charges of:
*Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Distribute
Telfair was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
The driver of the vehicle, Steven Jackson, 28, of 820 Houmas Street, Donaldsonville, LA, was booked on charges of:
*No Driver’s License
*Failure to Appear
*Flight From an Officer
Jackson was booked into the parish jail and released after posting a $1,500 bond.
