On January 10, 2017, an Assumption Parish Grand Jury
returned a True Bill of Indictment for Second Degree Murder Charges on both
Reid Leonard, age 38, and Broderick Scott, age 40, both of Iberville Parish.
These indictments stem after a joint probe by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s
Office and the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office that began
following the heroin overdose of a Pierre Part Man.
20, 2016, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 163 N Bay Rd.
Pierre Part, in reference to a male subject identified as Chase Gaudet, age 26,
being located deceased in his residence. Throughout the course of an intense
investigation by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe
that Leonard and Gaudet traveled to Scott’s residence to purchase heroin. Scott
is accused of distributing a quantity of heroin to Leonard, which was dispensed
to and consumed by Gaudet. Gaudet’s manner of death was ruled a heroin
January 11, 2017, Reid Leonard was sought by authorities and booked into the
Assumption Parish Detention Center on one count of Second Degree Murder.
On January 17, 2017, Broderick
Scott was sought by authorities and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention
Center on one count of Second Degree Murder as well.
District Attorney Lana Chaney is the lead prosecutor on this case. Both Leonard
and Scott remain incarcerated at the Assumption Parish Detention Center
