SUBJECT: JAMES BELL- COUNTERFIT MONEY TRANSACTION, CONTRABAND IN A PENAL INSTITUTION.
NAPOLEONVILLE – Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of James Bell 34, of 410 Front St., Donaldsonville on charges related to the presentation of counterfeit money at a parish business.
Detectives investigated the incident which occurred on May 23, 2017. Bell allegedly completed one transaction at the business, then attempted a second transaction but was detected by business employees.
As a result of the investigation, Bell was identified as the violator.
Warrants were issued for Bell at the time for:
*Two Counts Monetary Instrument Abuse.
* One Count of Theft.
Bell was arrested on Wednesday In Ascension Parish. He was transported and booked into the parish jail.
Upon entering the jail facility, Sheriff’s Office personnel determined that Bell smuggled an electronic device into his jail cell.
Bell was booked on an additional count of:
*Introducing Contraband into a Penal Institution.
Bell was incarcerated pending a bail hearing.
