SUBJECT: RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY ARRESTS
MICHAEL PREJEAN and GAGE M. BLANCHARD
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland
Falcon reports the arrests of Dax Michael Prejean, 23, of 1421 Camden Lake,
Baton Rouge, LA and Gage M. Blanchard, 21, of 136 Napoleon Avenue,
Napoleonville, LA, in connection with the July 28, 2017 residential burglary of
a home off of LA 1 near Napoleonville.
Sheriff’s office personnel responded to a complaint of
the burglary on the aforementioned date and noted that forced entry had been
made into the home.
The victims reported that a safe containing an amount
of U.S. currency and other valuables had been stolen.
Investigators received information from a witness
identifying a vehicle similar to that owned by Prejean as having been near the
residence at the time of the burglary.
Detectives developed information that Prejean and Blanchard may have
been involved in the burglary.
The suspects were located at a Thibodaux hotel. With assistance of the Lafourche Parish
Sheriff’s Office, detectives made contact with both suspects and conducted
interviews of each. Based on those
interviews, detectives obtained arrest warrants and charged both suspects on
Thursday with Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling.
Detectives were able to recover goods from the hotel
room which were purchased with funds stolen during the burglary. The suspect vehicle was located in the hotel
Both Prejean and Blanchard remain incarcerated at the
Assumption Parish Detention Center pending bond hearings.
