Traffic Stop / Drug Law Violations - Tuesday, January 16, 2018

SUBJECT:      TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – WILLIAM I. FONTENOT, JR.

 

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of William I. Fontenot, Jr., 52, of 171 Highway 663, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on drug charges following a traffic stop Sunday evening.

A deputy on patrol in Bayou L’Ourse observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and proceeded to stop the vehicle.  The deputy stopped the pick-up truck and identified the driver as William I. Fontenot, Jr.

The deputy proceeded to interview Fontenot.  Based on that interview and personal observations, the deputy requested a K-9 unit at the scene.  The K-9 unit arrived and conducted an open-air sweep of the vehicle which alerted to the presence of illegal substances.

As a result of the search of the vehicle and Fontenot’s person, a quantity of drug paraphernalia was recovered.  Deputies also recovered a quantity of meth-amphetamine.

Fontenot was placed under arrest, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on counts of:

            *Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

            *Possession of Meth-Amphetamine

Fontenot was issued two traffic related summons.  Fontenot was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
