Traffic Stop / Drug Law Violations - Thursday, January 18, 2018

SUBJECT:      TRAFFIC STOP/DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – CODY PAUL EARL WILLIS

 

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Cody Paul Earl Willis, 31, of 13416 Dot Lee Lane, Denham Springs, LA, on charges related to a traffic stop near Napoleonville shortly after noon on Monday.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call on Monday of a reckless driver on LA 308 near Napoleonville.  Deputies were dispatched to the area and intercepted the suspect vehicle north bound on LA 308 and proceeded to stop the vehicle.

Once stopped, deputies identified the driver as Cody Paul Earl Willis.  The deputy noted a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the pick-up truck.  A K-9 unit was called to the location and conducted an open-air sniff of the truck and did alert to areas of the vehicle. 

Upon searching the vehicle, deputies located marijuana and Hydrocodone.

Deputes interviewed Willis and a passenger identified as Kenneth J. Thibodaux, 57, of 6720 Highway 1, Klotzville, LA.

Following those interviews, Willis was placed under arrest for:

            *Possession of Marijuana

            *Possession of Hydrocodone

He was also issued a summons for Roadway Laned for Traffic.

Thibodaux was issued a misdemeanor summons for Possession of Marijuana and released.

Willis was also found to be wanted by St. Martin Parish on a failure to appear warrant.

Willis was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.  Upon satisfying the Assumption charges, Willis will be sent to St. Martin Parish to answer to those charges.
