Sex Offender Registration Violation - Friday, January 26, 2018

SUBJECT:      SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION VIOLATION JOSEPH LEE CARGO

 

NAPOLEONVILLE Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Joseph Lee Cargo, 38, of 402 Telegraph Street, Napoleonville, LA, on a second offense sex offender registration violation.

The investigation began when Cargo provided the Telegraph Street address during a statement he gave in connection with an unrelated matter.

Detectives were aware that Cargo was a convicted sex offender.  Cargo was previously convicted of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and registered as a sex offender at a different address.

Detectives conducted surveillance on Cargo and followed him on consecutive occasions to the Telegraph Street address.

Investigators applied for and received a search warrant.  Evidence was seized indicating that Cargo was residing on Telegraph Street and not at the location he registered with.

Cargo was arrested, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

            *Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Felony)

Cargo was arrested on January 23, 2017.He is in the parish jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
