SUBJECT: SHOPLIFTING OFFENSE,
AGGRAVATED 2nd DEGREE BATTERY,
FELONY CRIMINAL DAMAGE
PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon
reports the arrest of Bryant Tunson, 43, of 116 Thomas Street, Plattenville,
LA, in connection with a shoplifting incident which turned violent at a
Plattenville store this morning.
Deputies were dispatched to the business and upon
arrival were advised that the suspect was attacking the manager at that
time. The deputy entered the crime scene
area and immediately arrested Bryant Tunson.
The deputy noted evidence of a violent confrontation
including a large amount of broken liquor bottles. The deputy also observed significant injuries
to the manager of the business.
The deputy requested Acadian Ambulance who responded
and transported the injured manager to Thibodaux Regional Hospital.
Investigators interviewed a number of witnesses and
were able to determine that Tunson allegedly shoplifted goods from the
store. He was escorted to the manager’s
office at which time he violently attacked the manager with liquor
bottles. At one point, Tunson threatened
employees with an object because they locked the entrance / exit door.
Tunson was examined at Assumption Community Hospital
for an unrelated medical condition. He
was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
Second Degree Battery
Damage to Property
Tunson was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Deputies also arrested Shonta Bell, 42, of 114 Belle
Rose Lane, Belle Rose, LA. Bell and
Tunson went to the establishment together.
Investigators are trying to determine if Bell was involved in the
Bell was booked on warrants from Ascension Parish for
Felony Theft and Monetary Instrument Abuse.
Bell was also charged with Possession of Marijuana and
Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic.
Bell remains in the Assumption Parish Detention
