Disarming of a Peace Officer - Tuesday, February 6, 2018

SUBJECT:      DISARMING OF A POLICE OFFICER – JEFFERY RAINEY

 

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jeffery Rainey, 63, of 116 Charles Street, Napoleonville, LA, after an incident in Bertrandville, Monday evening.

Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Deputies went to the Bertrandville area to serve a protective order to Jeffery Rainey.

Rainey refused to accept service and became confrontational resulting in a scuffle with the deputy.

As some point, Rainey attempted to disarm the deputy.  The struggle continued and at some point, Rainey was taken into custody.  He was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he was booked on charges of:

            *Battery of a Police Officer

            *Resisting Arrest by Force or Violence

            *Disarming of a Peace Officer

Rainey was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
