AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – FIREARM – SHOOTING INCIDENT

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Wayne Phillip Sullivan, 18, of 112 Sugar Street, Paincourtville, LA, on felony charges arising from a shooting investigation near Paincourtville on September 23, 2022.
The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Grant Loop area in reference to a shooting incident. Deputies made contact with the complainant who advised that individuals had attempted to shoot her son.
Detectives initiated an investigation and commenced to interview witnesses and identify responsible parties.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Wayne Phillip Sullivan was identified as a suspect in the shooting incident. Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Wayne Phillip Sullivan.
On Tuesday, Wayne Phillip Sullivan was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm – 2 Counts
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
Wayne Phillip Sullivan remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Detectives have also filed a verified complaint in this same matter against a juvenile.
Previously arrested as a result of the shooting incident was James E. Thomas, 40, of 113 Grant Loop Road, Paincourtville, LA. He was booked on one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine. Thomas posted a $25,000 commercial bond.
